About me

Welcome to my blog – ilovemyplot –  I agree not the most inventive title but I do love my plot.

Gardening is not my hobby, it’s my passion.   I live in a small flat in London without a garden.  Window boxes are a great invention and I have seen some great inventive window boxes, but for me life without a plot of earth is a life undernourished.   So, if I don’t have a garden how am I being nourished?

Once upon a time in the distant past, a colleague casually remarked he had put his name down on an allotment waiting list.  Oh thought I, that’s an idea, I can do that!  And I did!  And five years later my local council offered me Plot 11A, completely weed ridden and needing lots of TLC.  Determined to spend all my free time transforming this weed infested earth into an organic feast of flowers, vegetables and fruit, my blog begins a few years on from the initial offer and the back breaking work.  Weeds continue to grow but are not allowed to invade, and the worms do the digging whilst I grow flowers, vegetables and fruit.  It is all consuming but I feel nourished.  If I could spend every day at the plot, I would!  (and my colleague’s plot is just a few steps away).

I hope you enjoy my ramblings.  Maybe a few of you will yawn the post away, but hopefully some of you will understand my passion, waxing lyrical about parsnips, roses, sweet yummy strawberries and all other gardening delights.  Please feel free to leave comments and any hints and tips – they are most welcome.

  1. Thanks for visiting and following my blog 🙂 “If I could spend every day at the plot, I would.” <<<I know exactly what you mean. I'm enjoying reading your posts and am looking forward to more, especially since you're now doing what I'll have to wait at least a couple of months to even consider starting! Keep up the good work.
